Among the crowds of people, the ominous buildings looming over the city, in every window of every building, there are men and women stressing, fighting, committing suicide and crying over LOVE. Being single isn't a problem, being in love may stir up trouble but breaking up is what makes people crazy. Who can save the thousands of people from their relationship woes? Oh yes, the Breakup Guru.

  

Mei Yuangui (Deng Chao) is a professional "Breakup Guru" who has been in 76 relationships and gone through 77 breakups. He understands the weaknesses of relationships, the problems with commitment and is specially equipped to handle a variety of breakup situations including those of lovers, married couples and domestic couples. He has invented a painless breakup method that involves no complications, no anesthesia, no recurrence and best of all, is absolutely reliable. To date he has helped over 2,000 couples successfully breakup or divorce with clientele varying from high class businessmen to common streetwalkers. Throughout the duration of his business, he has witnessed all kinds of joy and sorrows involving both the forming and the breaking of love. His exclusive services have caused many to hail him as the God of breakups and customers continuously flock to him for his expertise. 

 

One day, after deciding to shut down his business, he receives a special request from a client who wishes to break up with a woman names Ye Xiaochun (Yang Mi). And so the "Breakup Guru" and Xiaochun stage a show that can only be described as "the most affable but also most touching romantic comedy in history".

Chao Deng

as Yuangui Mei

Mei Yuangui, a professional “breakup guru” whose core competencies are in the area of breaking up couples, forcing them to live apart, causing divorces, and splitting common assets.  Inventor of “the Painless Breakup”.   Depending on the requirements of a job, Mei Yuangui can disguise himself as almost anyone; a truck driver, a woman, a superstar basketball player; he is very adaptable.  The latest breakup job he accepts is between success guru Tang Dashan and his mistress Ye Xiaochun.

 

Mi Yang

as Xiaochuan Ye

Ye Xiaochun, she calls herself a ferocious woman, and she has a hard exterior, a soft heart, and a lot of bad luck.  Without any college degree, she started working odd jobs in Beijing, and later met so-called success guru Mountain Tang.  He rented her an apartment, found her a job, and every time he sees her, he gets a big surprise ready.  She, who has never experienced kindness from a man before, is very dependent upon, and deeply in love, with her much older boyfriend.

 

Baimei Yu

Director

a Chinese film and television screenwriter famed for his work in particular as a drama screenwriter.  From 2000 onwards, he has engaged in many works as a screenwriter and has received universal praise for both his work on TV series as well as films.  In 2001, Yu Baimei teamed up with actor Deng Chao to make the classic comedy  play “Lady Flowers, Bring on the Food!” which became wildly popular in mainland China.  In 2010, the two good friends once again teamed up to co-create many titles including “Lady Flowers: 8 Years Anniversary Edition”, “The Breakup Guru”, “Noah’s Ark Kidnap Case”, “From Devil to Angel” and many others. 

 

Yan Liu

as Zhu Li

Zhu Li, success guru Mountain Tang’s wife. She has a body to be proud of and a powerful personality.  She shared the hardships of starting a business with Mountain Tang, but today she’s a “tigress” who terrifies her husband.  She appears not to know about her husband’s philandering, but she knows exactly what’s going on.  To stop him from leaving her, she also hires Mei Yuangui to collect evidence of her husband’s affair, because when the time is right, she plans to deal him a lethal blow.
